I have collected specimen from the Havey Quarry, near Poland, NH. How can I differentiate between Tourmaline and Beryl

I think you mean Poland, Maine, not New Hampshire. Anyways, the way to distinguish tourmaline and beryl is by the crystal shape and striations. Beryl's have very distinct hexagonal sharpes generally, whereas tourmalines are more triangular in their cross-section. Tourmaline crystals also have vertical crystal striations going lengthwise along the crystal's plan, whereas beryl does not.
