DrD, where found. How hard is it? Attempt to scratch it. Use nail file or a piece of quartz. Get back to us.

I have same thing, little better condition, but cannot be scratched with crystal or agate, it will scratch a crystal but not be scratched.  im thinking beryl or topaz?  any idea on what i should ask price per carat for rough gem that looks similiar to one in picture?

A quartz point does scratch it.

Sorry about the delay, sphalerite maybe.

Kyanite could also be a possibility as surmised by the questioner. Kyanite is anisotropic, which means it has a different hardness lengthwise and widthwise, so that can be used as an ID factor.
