Worked in a limestone quarry and found a bunch stones that looked like diamonds

0 votes

About 20 years ago I worked in a rock quarry and collected samples. There was this one mineral that looked exactly like raw diamonds crystal clear. The hardness was off the chart with what I had available. Quartz wouldn't scratch it, nor iron file. I didn't have sapphires and I used a CZ ring didn't scratch it either. I have moved many times and lost the collection moving but came across a term called merkles or herkles diamonds has anyone heard of these could give me some more info?

Which mine was it that you worked at? Herkimer Diamonds are lustrous quartz crystals from the herkimer area in NY, but they will scratch and be scratched by quartz.
