Green with blue curvy layers could this be Mexican fire agate?

0 votes

alt textI purchased a domed cab ring that is a fairly dark green (with other mottled colors of green w/ a small white spot) which has a curvy / wavy section of mostly fine blue (again, fairly dark in color) but graduated in width lines. I asked the seller what the agate (sold as a "rare" agate) was, and the response was from someone who said she would ask her manager....I was told it was probably Mexican Fire Agate. The surface feels like it could of been sanded down, it feels somewhat bumpy. There isn't any translucents to the stone. She or he guaranteed that it is an agate and most likely MFA.? Thanks for any help you can give me, it didn't cost very much. joni

That's not the right color for fire agate. Its a bit too dark for malachite, but you can do an acid test, to make sure.
