Found this rock in Alaska in a small creek. It is very smooth and glossy.
About 2 cm in diameter. I back lit it with a flashlight and the light shines through on some places.
Could it be an agate?
Most likely Quartz. Though a hardness test would better identify it.
I thought quartz too.
I don't know much about how to perform a hardness tests, but I'll read up on it.
Does rocks like this have any value?
Thank you for replying :)
Probably not much value - but its still a cute piece and worthwhile keeping anyways.
