Are these Citrine?

0 votes

Relating to my older question (http://answers.minerals.net/7749/update-previous-question-rinsed-more-colorful-rocks-shown). There are two pieces that look similar and I'm not sure what they could be. I'm assuming either Citrine or Orange Calcite. I'm more thinking they are Citrine, because the Orange Calcite would have a different texture/look to it. What do you think it may be?

I also just realized they look the same because they are the same rock split in half! I placed them together and they fit almost perfectly.

Though this has a yellow color and may possibly be quartz, I don't think most people would define citrine as somewhat crystalline and perhaps transparent, which this piece definitely lacks.

I definitely agree with that. I was just being hopeful. I don't know if you saw my older post regarding these pieces but I got them on Amazon in a bulk order and it told me which pieces may be included. So the ones I can't identify I try to assume are the ones listed from the order. Could this be "yellow quartz" if that exists?
It could be a massive form of quartz without any crystal faces and have a yellow color. That would not be classified as citrine but rather common quartz with a yellow color.
