Could someone identify these rocks found in Inyo County, CA?

While on vacation with family walking around in Inyo County in the Old Spanish Trail area near the Nevada border,I found these rocks on the ground and was wondering what they are.

Any and all help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Looks like aragonite or some sort of tufa (at least from the first picture.) Can you do an acid test and see if it effervesces?

Tufa is definitely a very good consideration! I've had other answers elsewhere guessing some kind of limestone (agrees with your tufa thought) or dolostone or an evaporite deposit. I could try an acid test.
