What help are you looking for? The color and play of color clearly indicate that it is indeed opal. What other information are you looking for particularly?

Thanks for your answer. I bought it in a "lot" at a local Gem and Mineral Rock Swap at Greensborough and hoped it was Opal. I was wondering if the underneath resembled some sort of fossil.  Not sure how deep the colour goes so have gently worked on the 360 wheel and tried to go a bit further. As I am only a beginner, I don't want to spoil it but it did only cost me about 50 cents so might try a little more at a time. Thanks for your comments.
It certainly looks real, though the play of color is very weak hence its inexpensive cost. Opal can form as a replacement over fossils so it is very likely that it formed and replaced fossilized material.
