Help/tips for chiastolite hunting

0 votes
I am trying to get my boys (7,5) into collecting.  We went looking for chiastolite in Lancaster, MA, and other than 1 small piece I couldn't find anything. I wasn't sure the best way to search, I dug up pieces of schist, I broke through large boulders of schist, spent hours there.. Is there a specific thing I should focus on or look for?  I spent hours chiseling rock to no avail, any guidance or help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not familiar with that particular locality for chiastolite in Lancaster, MA. But its best to get first-hand info from a local who has been there before and knows the best spots from experience. Even from known localities, it often takes hard word, lots of rock and dirt moving, and some good luck to really find something good.
