Is this Pegmatite?

0 votes

I am just starting to learn about minerals. I am wondering if this rock I found is pegmatite.  There is an aquamarine mine very close to my house and I am hoping to find some on my land too. It is about the size of a honey dew melon

Its definitely possible, though hard to tell from a picture like that. Please describe the location or general area as well as give some info as to its mode of occurrence, as that will help us identify it. Pegmatites usually contain large crystals such as microcline, and often have silvery mica crystals present.

It was found on the top of a hill that overlooks a creek/swamp. I have seen some black rocks with tiny mica throughout and some opaque white rocks in the same location. On google earth it shows my land as where two terranes meet.
