Have you considered Amber as a possibility here. Would be the biggest topaz ever found. Topaz is harder than Quartz, An 8.0 on the MOHs scale Quartz is a seven. Where did you find your specimen? Toledo Ohio at the Erie shoreline would be specific enough.. Will it scratch glass?

The photo quality is poor. Any way you can get better pictures? Ideally with visible crystal faces if there are any. Also please describe the mode of occurrence.
