Need help identifying an unknown metalic rock found in woods - Strykersville NY

0 votes

My brother found this rock in the woods near his house. It isn't silver paint because it doesn't scratch off. The bottom of the rock is cut off flat so that it rests flat on a table (He found it this way) Can anyone tell me what it could be? Thanks link text

How heavy is this rock? And what color streak does it have?

It is heavy for its size. Click on the 3 blue link text words in the original message to see the pictures. It doesn't have any color streaks. It is a very shiny silver all over, except for where it appears a slab was cut off. It is a dull silver grey there.

I would say it looks most like graphite, but you said it doesn't have a streak. Its probably something synthetic.
