Is it black sapphire

0 votes

I was told it was a very dark sapphire but was alarmed when I got it home and could detect no blue in the brightest artifical light. However one day in bright direct sunlight it glowed a burnish, orange in the thinnest cut of the stones. The setting is a ring in gold with 8 small 'sapphires' and 6 small diamonds. The sapphires have a beautiful multifaceted cut to them.

Yes, unfortunately, it's impossible to tell having only text description. You need to provide us with picture or pictures which will make it much easier. By far all I can tell is that it doesn't sound like black sapphire. I've actually seen black sapphire in a game at ruby fortune and it was truly gorgeous.
