I have some questions below

0 votes
Hi this is Mikayla Mixan a student at Lewis and Clark Middle School in Bellevue. I am doing a Genius Hour project in my eighth grade class on birthstones/and or gems. I have a couple of questions to ask. When you get the stones or gems how do you know how valuable they are? What determines a stones value? Finally, How do you educate people on birthstones and their quality? If you could answer these questions it would really be helpful to my project. Thank-you

Well, you ask questions that are general in nature. Birthstones are very commonly semi-precious stones. There are lists common to the internet. Values can be ascribed generally but as you no doubt know Diamond is very valuable and so is emerald, sapphire and ruby, while topaz, aquamarine and amethyst and others are not so expensive. Quality can be determined by size, weight, clarity, color and rarity. Impossible to determine as vaguely as your questions have been phrased. More info available on the internet.
