trying to get some help in possibly identifying this rock/mineral. i am an avid prospector (mainly metal detecting and dredging) and one day while working a quartz vein i ran across an internal pocket in the quartz, i cleaned it ou and imbedded in the side of the pocket wall was this. it is pretty heavy for its size ( about 60 grams), and looks like its made up of thousands of layers. the colors are gorgeous. its non-reactive to red fuming nitric acid. does look to have almost microscopic spiderwebs of possibly gold in it ( cant really see them without looking thru a loupe). light will not show thru it. i have never seen anything like it. maybe some of the experts can help me ID it once and for all.
