Does real amethyst, form what looks like rust, at its white base?

It is possible for Amethyst matrix to be iron stained with limonite or other iron oxides that have a rusty appearance.

Yes, a lot of the quartz I find is stained a brownish yellow I have always assumed was limonite, kind of like a mustard color.
