Do Spinels come clear as well as colored stones?

Pure spinel is colorless. Impurities can make them many different colors the most valuable of which are the deep red color.

That's correct. However, Spinels are almost always dark in color. Although technically they can be colorless, I have yet to see a colorless Spinel.
Neither have I, most I have seen have been blue and some red and those only in a jewelry store.
