Breath on it, a diamond will clear almost instantly...cubic zirconia might remain cloudy for a couple seconds. Look at it under a magnifying glass, cubic zirconia will scratch, you may be able to see the scratches. While not definitive, these are simple ways you can manage at home.diamond will scratch glass most glass stones will scratch easily enough. I hope this is helpful.

Cubic Zirconia - Specific Gravity of 5.6 to 5.9,  Reflective Index of 2.177, Mohs (Hardness) 8 to 8.5
Glass - Specific Gravity of 3.14 to 4.20, Reflective Index of 1.440 to 1.900, Mohs 5.5.

If you or someone you know have scientific scales it is quite a quick way to identify the two by SG alone.  Search you-tube and their are several DIY explanations how to do it.

Looking at it through a loop will be of little use as both will probably be very clear.  Although Glass sometimes have tiny round bubbles visible whereas CZ almost always if completely clear.

However, both are of little value; is their a reason for identifying them?

Alternatively a jeweller will have a look but may charge.  A local Mineral club may put you in touch with someone who can check it out properly as most jewellers, although knowledgeable about gemstones, know very little about gemstone testing, other than using a Presidium to test diamonds.
If you are anywhere near Brentwood in Essex UK I would do it for you free.
