Help with identification possibly Almandine found in Scotland UK, please.

0 votes

alt textHi, on my recent tour of Scotland, this rock is one of the largest I gathered. I've emailed a Gem museum but no reply. After a lengthy internet trawl I think it may be Almandine but am not certain. Any help with identifying both the crystals and the surrounding rock would be greatly appreciated. It is quite large even though many smaller pieces have already broken off in transit. Many thanks for reading and hopefully replying, Donna.

Yes, from the appearance it definitely looks like almandine garnet is mica schist, which is a typical environment for almandine.
