Bicolour or watermelon tourmaline

Can anyone tell me the difference between a stone referrred to as 'natural tourmaline' and one described as 'tourmaline quartz' particularly when set into jewellery?

Your title and question are different. Regarding your title, bicolor tourmaline describes tourmaline with any combination of two colors, whereas watermelon tourmaline specifically describes a red interior and green exterior.

Regarding the difference between tourmaline and tourmaline quartz, tourmalinated quartz is the term used to describe quartz with tourmaline inclusions.
