Is this fluorite sphere real?

0 votes

I'm relatively new to mineral collecting & I've been seeing these beautiful blue fluorite spheres from China for sale on eBay. Can anyone tell me if these are actually real? The richness of the blue has me questioning whether or not this is genuine fluorite that's just been cut, shaped, and polished.

The color and visible cleavage would likely indicate that this is genuine, though you always have to be careful with stuff coming out China to only buy from reputable dealers, to ensure it isn't dyed...

Thanks Hershel! If the seller has a good rating & I specifically ask if it's dyed & they say not, then you think it's a pretty safe bet?

I think its safer with a more reputable seller. Don't know that particular dealer though. However, it easy for fluorite to have vivid colors naturally as well.
