is a peridot topaz the same as a peridot? That's my question in a nutshell. Jewelry from India on ebay. Is it real peridot or green topaz called "peridot topaz?"

There is no such thing as "peridot topaz" - they are too independent gemstones. Its like saying a "Honda Toyota". The only possible connection is that the original classic locality for Peridot is the St. Johns Island in the Red Sea which was also known as "Topazos", and this name may have been applied to early peridots...

Peridote is formed in volcanics. topaz is formed in pegmatites
