i found a green stone but cannot identify it. Could anybody help?
Can you post a picture?
Where did you find this?
Hi,found it just by an walk in nature, where the pathway is covered by a lot of quartz stones. Have 3 of them.
Okay, one more then, i found my stones walking along Lake Superior in Whiefish Bay, Michigan.. Where geographically speaking did you find your stone. Idaho. new Mexico, Namibia? It will help us to give you a name for your rock.
Hi, im from Slovakia in Europe, city Košice.
My best guess and I stress the word guess is malachite.
Should i cut it to see whats inside?
Probably try to scratch it with a stone of a known hardness like quartz which is a seven on the Mors scale....if it is some kind of ore that has oxidized that will also be revealed.. You could try a small drop of a weak acid to see if it reacts.
Agree with weasel, looks most like malachite. Malachite can be easily tested by streak and an acid test. Thats not a common area for malachite but it could have been brought in from somewhere else...
What for acid is it?
