Can gold be found in Emeralds?

0 votes

Hi, I'm still in the learning stage....I recently purchased some emeralds that had gold in matrix. Once I received them - I questioned the authenticity. The stones look as though they were sprayed with a sealant and are rather 'wet' looking. The gold is very bright - but it made me wonder if they used a gold leaf and adhesive to stick it to the rock. Is gold found in emeralds naturally?? Or was I taken to the cleaners?? Thanks!

I don't think I have every seen a gold specimen found associated with emerald. In fact, I don't recall every seeing any form of beryl associated with gold. They are generally found in different environments, so this combination is highly unlikely. So it certainly seems like you were taken to the cleaners.
