Green semi-precious stone Identification help!

0 votes

Anyone on here have any ideas as to what this stone is? I need to match it for a mosaic. I thought it might be rough Malachite but  one gemstone dealer told me that it wasnt but also did not know what it was.

Anyone know what it might be and where I might find some? I am a mosaic artist based in Ireland.

Thanks for the help. Sunny

Hard to tell. Did he exclude the green stones from being turuoise?

With the banding and all, I would not be surprised if the stones were common and treated for color. There might be some copper ores, not malachite, but from the colors similar to rock outside of copper deposits. I'll check some things and update this post.
You see rocks with similar crystalline structures that are very similar but they are two differing colors

The closest I could find was rough turquoise and chrysocolla.I believe they are common rocks that are dyed.

I agree with Weasel's assessment that they indeed look dyed.
