It looks like chalcedony to me, or maybe rough beach agate. Likely not worth that much, but it is hard to tell on polished stones like that. It could even be a glass bead (through I doubt that)

thanks for the response, actually this bead was found by my grandma 50 years back . some local expert told me this is a valuable bead, that is why I posted it up here.
If a local expert thinks it is valuable, then go and ask him what you think it is if you can. It may be amber, I guess, that is kind of rare.
tq . They did not give me any specific info what this bead really is but, they are willing to buy it for a $ 20K. I m hesitate of selling it with this price it may be more valuable from what they are offering me.

I am not positive but if they offered 20k I have to ask several questions. 20 thousand what. Where was your grandma when she found it. In her yard in Jersey? It could be a fire opal. Air bubbles are not visible, so not glass.....hmmmm. I would take it to a jeweler and ask him what it is. He should be able to give you direction and a definitive answer.

20k? That's crazy!!! If they are willing to pay that much, something strange is going on. I agree with weasel, do some research, figure out why they won't tell you what it is, and stand your ground!
thanks from both of you, I will find it out what it is.
