Hello, I found a couple of big rocks near a dry riverbed that used to be covered with water for nearly four months a year after the snow melts from the mountains nearby. The rocks have been in touch with water a lot. You can also see some moss growing on and inside the rock. I’m wondering what kind of mineral this rock might contain as I know calcite has a weakness against water yet the crystals look really nice. Some look like calcite as I see some crystal cubes on the rock as well. Weight very heavy and took me nearly three hours to get this piece to the car after I decided to walk with it to the car (1 mile of walking distance from the spot back to the car).
I hope someone can tell me what this is and how to clean it gently.
