Chrome Diopside

0 votes

I purchased a bracelet made from chrome diopside. I liked it so well I purchased another one for my friend. When the 2nd one arrived, the color is so totally different from the first one, it made me wonder if it's the same jewels. The first one is very green and bright. The 2nd one the green is very dark forest green. It just doesn't seem as pretty of a color. It made me wonder if the jewels are really the same kind as advertised. If it's possible they are both Chrome Diopside, is one better than the other?

Chrome diposide does usually have a forest-green color (see http://www.minerals.net/gemstone/diopside_gemstone.aspx) but it can also have a more light yellowish hue to the green. There are several deposits in different parts of the world for this gemstone, hence the possible variation of color.
