Where to take my rock for determination?

0 votes

alt textMy mom found a great looking rock in the Philippines and we want to have someone look at it and help us determine what mineral it is? How should I go about finding someone online or in the phone book for help? We are located in Southern California.

Thank you for your input. It has been challenging finding someone who will help.

Can you post a picture of it? Someone here may be able to help you.

Can you also try an outdoor picture? From a quick glance it does look like Chalcopyrite though. Can you also scratch the mineral part on a streak plate (such as the unglazed back of a tile) and see what color the streak is?
