Help me identify this stone on my profile

Hello,  this white stone was found at a mine in Senegal,  West Africa.  Can anyone help me identify the stone please?  It is on my profile

Stephen, post it here. Use the bottom tool bar. Count six boxes from left to right. The first icon with the silhouette of two mountains and the sun will give you three options to upload photos into your post.

Also tell us where you found it. A simple statement like on a hillside near an iron mine in Denver Colorado. That will tell us a lot. A statement like that gives us geographical context and tells us something about the area in which you found it. You might go farther by stating it is brittle or very hard, light shines through it, it scratches glass, it leaves a white streak when tested, it is magnetic.

It could be quartz. Testing for hardness, see if you can scratch a piece of glass with it or if you can mark it with a common nail. If it scratches glass or you cannot mark the rock with a nail, the rock can be said to be very hard.
I second that. Has the visual appearance of common quartz.
