Light tan drusy specimen, is it quartz?

Most certainly. It could be quartz. The crystal should be hard enough you will most likely not be able to scratch it.

Druzy stones usually have many crystals embedded on the surface of a rock.

Thanks Weasel. That was my thought just the color and the granular nature threw me off. It is hard, scratches glass.
It certainly looks like it could be, but it's hard to say with certainty that in fact it is, without a real visual observation or physical testing.
