.Please verify this silvery metal

Upon detecting metal in the bedrock of a wash/dry creek bed I excavated out a flat piece of non-magnetic metal that I'm not sure of what it is. It has a SG of 11.68 with water @ 34degF, when tarnish is scratched color is silver, it conducts electricity, is maliable and when soaked in 70% Nitric the tarnish comes off but the metal doesn't melt. The sample I used was .14 grams to start and is now .13 grams after 3 days in this Nitric Acid. The sediment is white and the acid is now yellow. I'll add more info if I can come up with any more tests. Can anyone tell me what this may be, please? Mohave County, AZ

Answer: I would say it is silver.      Weasel

Thank you so much for answering Weasel. That was one of the metals I thought it would be until using the nitric acid which I thought was supposed to disolve silver......? I'm new at this stuff so have been reading whatever I can find to try to figure this out. So the powdery residue that was the tarnish is most likely hydrogen sulfide or silver nitrate.....? or some natural alloy or.....? Thanks again, I appreciate your thoughts......

Just one drop of bleach will cause your silver to tarnish quickly turning black wherever the bleach touches.

Ok, thanks Weasel, that did it, must be silver, put it in a test tube of bleach for an hour, turned dark which rubs off fairly easily..........
