One of four names of selenite. (Desert rose, satin spar, sericolite and Maria Glass)

Selenite is a variety of gypsum. Satin Spar is sometimes used as a name for a type of calcite.

Key descriptive term is pearly. Name derived from Selene, Roman goddess of the moon. Soft, you can scratch it with your fingernail.
