Are there any uses of aragonite?

+1 vote
I have a student researching aragonite's uses.

Can you direct us to some good resources that would discuss its uses.

Your website says there are not many practical uses.

Are there any uses?

Please advise!

The only uses I found for this mineral is it is used to simulate reef conditions. It has been used to clean different pollutants from waste water. If my source is correct it is unstable and will break down over time. Wikipedia on the Internet will get you started.

Here is what the minerals.net page on aragonite states for its uses:
Aragonite does not have many practical uses, but interesting specimens are popular collector's minerals. The "Onyx Marble" formed from mineral springs is cut into cabochon and ornaments.
