Mysterious green stone

+1 vote

I've recently got my hands on a box full of treasures that have been sitting in someone's shed for years. I'm in Australia and have no idea where the collection has come from. Can anyone tell me what this is?alt text

It looks like emerald. See if you can scratch it with a pocketknife, emerald is very hard. Emerald will not be scratched by a pocketknife

It scratched pretty easily and I noticed a rainbow within the stone when I was scratching it. Could it be green fluorite?
