Howdy, I am in North East Arkansas and recently was told that Pink Dolomite Geodes could be found in the region. Please advise if you know any hunting areas for this or other mineral finds in North East Arkansas or South East MO
There are nice Dolomite aggregates of typical pearly saddle-shaped crystals with a fleshy color in Black Rock of Lawrence County. However, these are not in geode habits, and I am not familiar with the collecting status there.
Thanks Hershel. That is where I went to look. It seems there are several rock quarries in the area and the locals saved large pieces for door stops some years ago. I live in Pocahontas...about 15 miles from Black Rock.My brother in law was the one that mentioned Geode formations. You are correct according to the locals that they are just in rock crystal formation. Thanks for the time to look that up. What source did you use? I will continue to try and find an area there where I can hunt for them. ED
