Though agate can't be ruled out, it looks most like travertine, with the color and banding style. Easiest way to tell for certain is to check if it effervesces with acid (try doing it on the understand to prevent any damage)

I would rule out agate, technically a stone has to be 50% agate to qualify, this specimen is clearly not. Also, agate is so hard I cannot imagine being able to turn it like this vessel has been turned. It actually appears to have been turned and glazed.

This material is not agate. It is sold out of Pakistan as onyx or banded onyx. If you google 'Pakistan Onyx pictures' (or even Pakistan onyx vases as yours is a vase) you will see lots of this material & some of the carvings (eg the fish I saw) are showing a lot of the brown color)
