It is very interesting. Do you know where it came from like from Venice, Italy, or near Mt. St. Helens. Can you scratch it with a knife or your thumbnail or a rock of a known hardness loke quartz.Is it opaque or translucent. This information will give us more data from which to draw conclusions and give you a better answer

my friend found them around her property in lincoln, alabama. in fact she found all of the stones i posted there. she said the ground was a reddish clay all around her property.

It appears to me to be onyx, could be obsidian, best guesses...
