Why is turquoise blue?

Can anyone explain what causes turquoise to be blue?

When Turquoise is blue...it is because of the Copper in the formation. When the stone is green it has more Aluminum and add some Zinc and get a yellow-green color in the stone. Hope this answers your question. Ed
