amazing colored rocks

alt textVery beautiful stripped stones lying by the side of the road. There were tons of these stones. Could these be tufa or tarvertine. Help me identify this rock

Looks like regular coarse grained rock. Layers suggest to me sedimentary but that's not etched in stone. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Still not real good at classifying regular rock. Sorry not more help at this time.

Another possibility is metamorphic hornblende-gneiss...
