Identifing agate

0 votes

I have an old floor lamp with a base made of a green material like jade or agate or emeraldlite. The material is light green with veins throught it. It is soft as I can take a sharp knife and scrape it and it leaves a whitish powder. I believe it could be carved if required.

If it's scratched by a knife then its too soft to be agate or jade. Perhaps malachite? Please feel free to post a picture of it.
