alt textHi,

Here I have another mineral that I cannot identify.

Does NOT scratch glass, with a little effort I push my fingernail in it, but it does NOT react to vinegar.

Thanks, Renata

It looks lite halite, halite has a hardness of about 2 so you can scratch it with your finger nail. You can lick it to see if it tastes salty, but that might be a last resort option :). The orange/red part looks like hematite.

I did lick it... very distant salt taste.

But I was thinking halite as well and I have found some halite with hematite on google images that look like this.

Thx.

And now I found this image on google: it is copper calcite. The copper looks the same as on "my" stone.

The salt taste of halite is very distinct, so if it lacks a strong taste then its not halite. As far as the assertion that its "copper calcite", the picture provided by Renata appears to be a calcite crystal perched atop native copper, though a comparison to the mineral posted by the users seems to be too distant. The picture does look most like calcite with hematite staining giving a reddish color, as especially indicated by the cleavage and crystal angles.

Hematite! Cool.

However the stone itself does not react to vinegar, but I will test it again.

Thx.
