Any Help with this Rock/Stone?

0 votes

So my mom gave me this rock years ago. She told me it was Calsydney, we are Native American so she told me it was used to prevent bad dreams. It's white slightly translucent and has crystals on it. I've never seen a similar stone other then the other two I have. I'm trying to figure out what it is, the only other information I have is that she once told me that it is a living rock that grows. Here are the best pictures I could get. Any help is appreciated. http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss176/DragonCave1172/PB020006_zps976606df.jpg http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss176/DragonCave1172/PB020008_zpsb8f74c14.jpg http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss176/DragonCave1172/PB020009_zps524d1d70.jpg

Its either quartz/chalcedony or cave calcite/aragonite. They can be easily distinguished by a hardness test or acid test.

Your mom mention that it "grows" and I see from your URL in photobucket that it has the word "cave" in it. Calcite/aragonite "grows" - i.e. forms in caves from precipitating water, so perhaps this could be an indicator as to what it is.
