Is this a chalcedony? Carnelian or Sard (per descriptions I read online)? not labeled in store

These seem darker like sard. Carnelian is softer than sard, too. The only definitive way is to have a jeweler test them..My eyesight says brown but if that is off somewhat, they could be carnelian, but they are definitely chalcedony and carnelian and sard are 1 and 1A as choices here. In better light I would say carnelian.

Carnelian and sard are technically the same thing just with different colors. They are both variations of microcrystalline quartz var. chalcedony. Carnelian is red and sard is brown. These look more red than brown, so I would define them as carnelian, though this can be subjective and there are no hard rules to at what point the color makes it carnelian or sard.
