Can you be more specific ... sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.... sometimes not so much. Can you provide coloration? Is it translucent or trasparent in places? Any additional info would help.

Purple that marks with a file sounds like amethist ... in matrix with what all we don't know. There are just so many possibilities. It can reappear in matrix with a great number of things in Kaledascope Agate, various other agates and other gemstones. This world and its amazing history of catastrophic events and pressures creates some totally un expected results. You may have just found one of them.

Looks like it has a metallic luster - seems like graphite or molybdenite. Does it smudge at all when you touch it? If you scratch it on a surface, does it leave a mark? If so, what color?
